Every internet marketer should use search engine optimization techniques (SEO) to get higher rankings. It is a way to get free traffic to a website. Do Keyword Research

Research is a major part to your success. You need to have quality content and do keyword research, or it will be hard to rank in the search engine. The first thing you need to do is keyword research to find keywords with low competition but with enough traffic. You need to find so called long tail keywords, the words the searcher types in into the search engine. As these keywords consist of more than one word, there will be less competition, but also less traffic. The good part is that it is targeted traffic, and these people are more willing to buy.

The exact formula to rank high in the search engine will never be known by marketers. It seems to be a heavily guarded secret of the search engines. Because of the changes in the algorithms, it will be just a matter of trying what works and what doesn’t work. Keyword Density

Keyword density is the number of times your keyword exist in your content. It should be between 2 and 5%, not any more or it will be seen as keyword stuffing with lower rankings as a result. If your page consist of 500 words, you should have a keyword density of 4%. These keywords must naturally exist within your content and have to make your content easy to read.

To get ranked well for your most important keyword search terms, you have to take 5 important steps.

  1. Target the right keywords
    Make sure that there is enough traffic for your keywords, in other words, there must be enough people who are searching for the keywords you are trying to rank for.
  2. Get your keywords in the right place
    It is important where you place your keywords to get high rankings.
    Your keywords must be in the title of the page;
    In the first sentence close to the beginning;
    In the last sentence close to the end;
    Several times throughout your content with a 2-5% density.
  3. Create useful content
    You have to offer real value for your readers, content they want to share and link to it. You have to place yourself in the position of a searcher; is it what they are searching for, with the right keywords in it? Is it answering the questions they have, solving a problem?
  4. Have content related to your main content
    Search engines like to see websites with a lot of content related to the main content. If you have content that is relevant to your primary content, you can get higher rankings. This is another one of the search engine optimization techniques: The more related content you have, the higher you can get in the search engine.
  5. Build links to and from your website
    To build links, you have to find sites with related information that are willing to link to your site. By doing so, the search engines will see your site as providing value. Especially if these links are one way links to your site, without a link back to their site. These links are giving a lot of weight by the search engines. Finding related websites is not difficult; getting these one way links is a different story.

How to Get One Way Links

    1. Use Forums
      Forums are used to communicate but they can also be used for Search Engine Optimization techniques. As a lot of sites link to forums, they often have a high page rank. Use the search engine to find forums similar to your niche. For example, if your niche is dog training, you must search for ”dog training forums”.

Join forums that are related to your niche, just make sure it is allowed to post links to your own website or blog in the resource box. Some forums will not allow this, you have to read the terms of these forums to see if it is allowed. When you place a link back to your site, use your target keywords in your link. Never spam forums as you will be thrown out and all your posts will be deleted.

  1. Use News Sites
    Again you have to do a search for the news sites where you can leave comments, but just make sure your comments are valuable for your readers. Leave a link back to your site at the end of your comment.
  2. Article Writing
    This is one of the cheapest and best promotion strategies for your website. You have to create quality content, submit it to the article directories, and you get a one way link back to your website/blog.
  3. Social Media Marketing
    You have to put social media buttons on your website, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, and more. If people like your content, they can share it with others. This way you get one way links back to your website. Just make sure you provide quality content, so they are willing to share it.
  4. Get Listed in Website Directories It might not be easy to get listed in some directories, but if you can, it will be of great beneficial for your website.
  5. Get Links From High PR Sites
    This might be hard to do, but if you can get links from high Page Rank sites, it can lead to higher rankings. You have to contact the owner of the high PR website and make him an outstanding offer that will be hard to resist. You have to use your imagination here as these websites don’t accept just anybody with a link back.

Tell Your Visitor to Take Action

You want your visitor to click on your offer and buy the product you are selling. To get this done, you have to tell them to do this. You have to use so called ”call to action” buttons. You can use links such as ”click here to know more about this product”. These links and buttons should be in the top of your page or to the left as this have been proven to receive the highest click-through rate.

Find Out How to Presell

Before the final sale is made, you have to presell the product or service to your visitor. You do this by answering all the questions the visitor might have, making recommendations, and even compare products for them, with your product/service being the one to choose. You have to give them all the info they need to know to make the purchase as easy as possible for them.

For instance, if a person is looking for a laptop, they want to know:

  • What’s the price?
  • How much memory does it have?
  • What kind of processor is inside?
  • What is the processors’ speed?
  • How long is the warranty?
  • What is the operating system?
  • What kind of video card is inside?
  • Does it have wifi/bluetooth?
  • What kinds of programs are installed on it?
  • How many USB ports does it have?
  • What is the resolution of the screen?

If you can answer all the questions your potential customer has, you have already closed half of the sale.

Have Visitors Spreading your Content

If your content is interesting enough, solve problems, or be helpful in any way, people are willing to share your info with others. This way you get natural links to your website. This is also the reason to put Social Media buttons on your website, to make it easier for people to share your content.

Another important thing you can do, is putting a comment box at the end of your page/post. If people leave a comment, you get more content related to your subject onto your page. The video will show you exactly how to do every step, and guide you smoothly through these steps. After that, your website is set up and ready to put content on it.

Preparing for the Search Engines

In lesson 6 you are going to make your website ready for the search engines. Again, you’ll just have to watch a video explaining what SEO is and how to do this. An SEO plugin will do most of the hard work for you. This will save you a lot of time from manually optimizing your post and pages, the meta tags, title, description, keywords, and more.

Research Keywords for Traffic

In lesson 7 you’ll learn what a keyword is and how to do research for the right keywords. You must target the right keywords to get good traffic to your website. Creating the First Pages

In lesson 8 you are going to create a few pages for on your website. These pages will be in draft mode and not published yet. You have to take a look at other sites to get ideas for your own website. The first page must be related to your website niche, the second page will be your ”about me” page, and the third page will be your ”privacy policy”.

You will get the help you need to build these pages, there is even a privacy policy available for you to use on your own website. It only takes some minor changes to make it suitable for your own website. These pages will be created with only the title, and finished later on and then published online.

Writing Content for your Website

In lesson 9 you are going to write content for on your website. Search engines love content, and the better your content is, the higher you can get in the search engines. That is why you always have to write original, high quality content that is interesting for your readers. Never, ever copy the work from others, because with duplicate content you won’t get ranked!

First, you are going to finish your ”about me” page. You’ll get good information on how to do this and what to put on it to build trust with your readers. The third step is to setup an email address connected to your domain name. Don’t use an email address like name@hotmail.com, instead use an email address like name@yourwebaddress.com as it looks much more professional. You have to put this email address on pages like your privacy policy, about me page, contact page and other pages where people want to contact you. By doing this you also build trust with your visitors, and they are potential customers. You can (and should) create a free account and use Jaaxy.com and look for the column with QSR (Quoted Search Results) to find keywords with less then 100 QSR.

These QSR results are the exact number of competing pages on the internet. The keywords must sound natural, so ”free traffic your website” is not good, but ”free traffic to your website” is good. Create a post where you use one of your keywords in the title, another one close to the beginning, and one at the end of your post. Always write natural just like you are speaking to a person, don’t write for the search engine.

Setup A Google+ Profile
Now you must setup your Google+ profile and Google Authorship on your website. By doing this, your website will be indexed faster, get a higher click through rate, and you can expect higher rankings (=more traffic to your website). A Google+ account is free and you should definitely create one. Every time you create a new post or page, you should also post it on Google+.

With pay per click, your ads will show up on the right side of the Google results page, next to the main search results. You can expect to see results within 15 minutes from setting up your campaign. You only have to pay if someone clicks on it. This is a very good way if you want to promote your website to get targeted traffic to it and to generate sales.

Pay Per Click Providers

The three biggest providers of pay-per-click advertising are Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft AdCenter. As Google is the biggest search engine, all the info on this pages is based on Google’s AdWords.

When you look at the results, don’t forget to look at the ”Additional keywords to consider” list, as you might find some very good related keywords there. Sometimes you can find some very profitable keywords there as well.

Use Exact Search Keywords

When you choose keywords, consider using exact search keywords; try to use the exact same words people are typing in into the search engine. If a link contains the exact same words as what people typed in into the search engine, they are more likely to click that link.

You need to have keywords with a lot of requests but only limited search results. These are the keywords that are in high demand and low supply which is perfect for pay per click advertising. These keywords have a bigger chance to lead to a conversion.

You can, and should, use the filter option to block certain URL’s from showing up. This way you can stop low value offers from being shown up on your pages.

Use Negative Keywords

You should also include negative keywords, for instance the word “free”. Many people on the internet are looking for free products, the so called freebee seekers, and are not willing to buy. You don’t want these people to click on your advertisements because they are not going to buy and they will only cost you money. Other words you should make negative, are “blog”, “tips”, “info” and “tricks”.

In each ad you make, you are limited to the amount of text you can write down. For the title you have 25 characters available and for the text 2 lines with a maximum of 35 characters per line. You have to use them well with a catchy text.

Use Power Words in Your Text

Use only text ads, no images, as images will decrease your click through rate. Be sure to use words such as “click”, “now” and “try” in your ad because you have to tell people what to do. Other words you can use, are “new”, “fast”, “tips”, “free”, “exclusive”, “guarantee”, “reliable” and “easy”.

The headline is the most important part of your ad, so spend time to create an eye catching headline. The display URL is the second most important reason for a visitor to click on your link. Make sure you’ve put your most important keyword in the URL.

You should have at least 2 ad variations running to see which one is better performing. The first time they should be very different. Later you are only going to make small changes. The one that is not doing so well, must be optimized to get the highest return on investment.

Keep Making Little Changes

You should only change 1 thing each time, otherwise you don’t know which part of your ad has made the difference. Even a little change can have a big impact on your click through rate. You keep doing this to get the most out of your Adwords Campaign. A successful marketer keep testing and improving and so should you.

Don’t let Google choose your best ad, because they will do this much too soon. The Campaign Management Panel is by default set to choose your best performing ad to have it displayed more often. This is something you must do yourself, after you have enough info which one performs better.

Never Stop Testing

This split testing is extremely powerful and can be the difference between waisting a lot of money and making a lot of money. Testing is the key to success. Always keep testing and never stop testing!

You want to reach the right people who are interested in what you have to offer, and who are willing to take action. This will result in higher click through rates and higher return on investment, in other words more money in your pocket.

Don’t underestimate your competition when you are competing with several others for the same keywords. Use the Google tool to check the Advertiser Competition to find keywords with not too much competition. If you want to succeed with Google Pay Per Click, you have to be better than the competition.
