Even as a thriving full-time affiliate marketer, I still found myself enticed by various scams (who doesn’t want to get rich quick?)
While many of these offers are misleading (promising wealth for a mere $5), it does not imply that the marketers behind them lack skill.
In fact, a significant number of them are highly skilled marketers, providing real evidence of six-figure incomes, luxury vehicles, and socializing with well-known personalities.
Well, I don’t want to act like that guy, and I’m not that guy. Yes, affiliate marketing has helped me a lot, but I see myself as an ordinary guy.
To be honest, I can be satisfied without an expensive car. I’m happy with the dull second-hand car I purchased years ago, it has take me anywhere I had to go.
While the main goal of this site is to earn income, this page is not about selling you anything. Instead, I wish to share my true story of success in affiliate marketing. There are no gimmicks, hidden strategies, or misleading claims involved.
My intention in sharing my success story is not to sell you anything, but to prove that anyone can achieve financial success online through affiliate marketing.
Sharing My Story of Life
While sharing my story makes me somewhat uneasy, I often receive positive feedback from others who find inspiration in it. Therefore, I will proceed to share it.
I must admit that I was not particularly advanced as a child. My developmental milestones were delayed; I learned to walk, talk, and crawl later than most.
In fact, I was even born a couple of weeks past my due date. By the time I reached Kindergarten, it was apparent to others that I had some unique challenges.
In first grade, I found myself significantly lagging behind my classmates, which ultimately led me to repeat the grade. This was a devastating experience that severely impacted my self-confidence as a seven-year-old.
I still remember the first day back at school, when my former classmates, now in second grade, asked me why I was still in first grade.
Additionally, I remember overhearing conversations among other children about my situation, which was incredibly difficult to endure.
This marked the beginning of my challenges in school. My low self-esteem significantly impacted my social skills, making my experience in school quite isolating and challenging.
The reason I am disclosing these personal and somewhat embarrassing details is simple: I am human.
I have both strengths and weaknesses, just like everyone else, and I do not consider myself to be anything extraordinary. In fact, it is quite possible that I am not any smarter than you.
My primary advantage lies in my ability to write reasonably well, yet throughout my education, I have always been part of the group that supports the success of the top performers in my class.
Finished School After Years
It was a challenging journey, but I accomplished it! After years of education, I proudly received my high school diploma and even managed to earn a college degree. What an achievement after all those years!
Following this success, I took a step that seemed reasonable. I secured a well-paying office job and immediately increased my student loan debt by purchasing a $15,000 sports car with no down payment.
What I initially perceived as a high-status office job turned out to be essentially a telemarketing position.
After two difficult years, I was laid off during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression, facing over $30,000 in debt from student loans, a new car, and additional credit card debt. A rather unfortunate turn of events.
I quickly realized that a job in an office setting was taking a toll on my mental well-being. This only made the whole situation worse, what I didn’t needed.
As a recent college graduate facing substantial debt and uncertainty about my future, I found myself in a state of depression. This was certainly not an enjoyable period of my life.
Finally Taking Part in an Activity I Enjoyed and Excelled In
After careful thought, I concluded that a drastic change was necessary. In a time when I was facing financial difficulties, I chose to pursue a career as an electrician.
Despite the seemingly irrational nature of this decision, it ultimately proved to be the most beneficial choice I have made for my well-being.
Being an electrician is a serious profession that presents numerous challenges; however, I found great satisfaction in it. I kept doing this for another 2 years, until my boss started to breathing down my neck.
It was also time for another job, as working with electricity can become a life threatening job, especially with colleagues that are not co-operating.
For another two years I worked in a warehouse as an order picker. It was a simple job than anyone can do and the payment was not good, but I was able to pay my bills.
In that time I had the opportunity to buy a computer through my job, using monthly payments, although I didn’t needed a computer for the job itself.
At first I used the computer as a text processor to write letters and other papers. Once I had internet, it all changed and I spend lots of time online.
In that time the internet was not as extensive as it is now, but I looked up many subjects. That is how I also found out about making money online.
The Start Of My Own Affiliate Marketing Business
Tired of working for a boss, I had a look at several of these make money online programs. That is how I also learned about get-rich-quick schemes, in a negative way.
Whenever I had the chance, I was looking online what to do to make money without having to work for a boss. It was time to take my life in my own hands.
That is how I finally ended up by affiliate marketing, what I’m still doing today. Being a complete newbie, I had to start from the beginning, thus it took some time.
I am glad I kept going on, learning as much as I could to master affiliate marketing, otherwise I would probably still be working for a terrible boss.
In my free time I was busy learning about affiliate marketing and setting up a website. In that time it was all done with HTML, that I also had to learn.
When my website was finally online (I already told you I was late with most things), it was time to write articles and put them online on my website.
As my work didn’t took too much of my concentration, I used most of my job time to think what I could write about. In the evening I would then put it online.
My boss never gave me a raise, what he promised when I applied for the job. He even told me that he was very satisfied with the work I did, but I never got a raise.
He also gave me jobs sometimes that had nothing to do with order picking. To make things worse, he said that it looked good but was complaining that it took too much time.
I felt like I was used, started to hate the job, and so I called in sick one day. As I did not had to go to my work, I started to work online to improve my website.
Slowly I got better at it, and I started to write more articles to get more people to visit my website. I also started to include search engine optimization to get higher rankings.
Then, one day it finally happened: I made $8 commission. I was completely astonished and left speechless! This was definitely something to celebrate!
After six months of hard work, that first $8 proved to me that earning money online is indeed achievable. All I had to do was to keep pushing forward, and that’s exactly what I did!

The desire for success in affiliate marketing is the freedom it offers. This was a key aspect of what I wanted: absolute freedom and the opportunity to travel the world.

I have camped in the forests, near waterfalls, been searching for gold and gemstones, had relaxing walks through the forest, and lived a very satisfying life.
In that time I also had to work on my website, what needed to go on of course, but sometimes I had to drive to town to use the internet there.
I have been in places where I didn’t had a signal on my phone to put up a hotspot for the internet. Most of the time these places were really quiet to do my work well as I could concentrate better.
Just imagine sitting in a quiet spot in the forest, away from the city noise and pollution, breathing fresh air, hearing birds, having a coffee, and working on my website at the same time. There is nothing wrong with that 😉
I had the flexibility to work from nearly any location, and my income continued to rise as I lived this amazing lifestyle. The lifestyle that affiliate marketing has granted me has truly been a dream come true.
While achieving success in affiliate marketing required considerable dedication, it has also given me exceptional freedom. I cannot think of any other profession that offers such a combination of freedom and financial success.
10 Years Of Profits From Affiliate Marketing
A lot of people are interested in whether there are affiliate marketers who have experienced lasting success. While the definition of “long-term” can differ from person to person, I earned my first $8 commission in April 2015.
